The Iron Thumb
The Iron Thumb was built out of scraps by the railworkers as a place to go when not laying track. Sticking out like an iron thumb among the greenery, the approach to this establishment is tricky. There is only one solid ground path from the door down to where the workers live. New workers are always asked to lead the way to The Iron Thumb as an initiation rite. Most end up covered in mud and bog water by the time they reach the door with their new mates laughing behind them. The drinks these men use to get drunk are some of the worst rotgut for miles around but very effective. The owner Siellor Baz makes no excuses for her drinks. She says she’s doing the boys a favor and saving them money on what they’d have to spend to get that drunk elsewhere.
